Career Development
Mark has been involved in HS&E management for some 25 years. In that time he has been Director of HS&E for two major contractors working in UK, Ireland, Europe & US, developed award winnig HS&E management systems that have achieved ISO accreditation and BSC 5 star awards and advised the HSE during development of HSE guidance.
Over the past number of years Mark has worked for, advised, trained, given presentations to and audited a broad range of organisations including British Safety Council, Microsoft, Institute of Occupational Safety & Health, BP, BMW, Rally School Ireland, Linklaters, Air Canada, E-Bay, McNicholas Construction, Thames Water, Wembley London Ltd. Kier Group, British Museum, Local Government Authorities and others. He has also worked with BSI and HSE in helping to develop standards and systems before being published for industry consumption.
Advise has included strategic safety & environment programmes, the development of risk management programmes and simple, effective, easy to understand management systems.
Having been involved in a number of court cases and acting as expert witness Mark is familiar with the real requirements organisations need to address, and how they can be addressed in practical terms.

Mark set up BehaveSafe Ltd to provide organisations with bespoke, simple but effective safety and environment management systems that focus on the real risk issues. As well as working with larger organisations the Behave safe philosophy is to provide organisations with cost effective access to experienced competent persons who are able to provide advise in a practical way that really works and that staff understand. Systems will be developed in an easy to understand manner that is based on an organisations risk profile, this helps save organisations from spending time and money on areas that may offer no result and help ensure responsibility is given to staff in a manner that they can understand and can be applied.
These systems have been trialled and proven to work. It is about making safety accesible, sensible and effective. Its about protecting people and organisations whilst allowing them to get on with their job with confidence that health, safety & environmental matters are being properly and sensibly addressed.
